Dorm Room Render
Two months into quarantine, the month of May to be precise – was a phase when I decided to explore some 3D Low-Poly / Isometric styled artworks in Blender. A colleague of mine recommended that I experiment with the creation of our beloved dorm room. Modeling the entire space from scratch took about 6 hours, considering every detail that had to be done justice to. The selling criteria of this piece was the nostalgia factor that skyrocketed the project on the way to become my biggest Instagram post to date: currently sitting at 607 likes, 153 comments, 391 shares & 72 saves.
Taking a good amount of time to study why this piece in particular performed extraordinarily well and resonated with the audience in spite of its handful of flaws was the fact that it had the power to touch hearts on a personal level. From the lighting, to the pillows and bedsheets – the intricacies that play an inevitable part appears to be digitally produced in a personalized manner.
In a gist, this piece is a composition comprised of basic geometrical shapes with solid color fills. No textures, no bump maps, no simulations, no animations, no environmental volumetrics, nothing of that sort. Just Level 1 modeling with perfect lighting that hit the right notes. This really goes to show that content produced on a relatable level is highly likely to gather more interest, traction and social engagement.
However, a remastered version is expected as soon as the flaws are analyzed and ready to be re-worked on.
